Career in Nursing

The career of nursing caters to health sector. Nursing is one career which will always be in demand in the hospitals and health centers all over the country. Whether its general ward or operation theatre, nurses have to contribute significantly. Nursing as a career is very rewarding as well as demanding. It is also quite popular because of its servicing element. This job requires taking care of patients as well as specialized skills for psychiatric, managing pediatric, and intensive care patients. India has witnessed improved quality of healthcare in last few years. That phenomenon has resulted in increasing demand for skilled nurses in government or private hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, orphanages, old age homes, military services, industries and schools. Indian nurses are working world over. Kerala is credited with contributing maximum number of nurses.

 

To make a career in nursing one needs to complete the nursing courses. India is a country with several quality nursing schools and colleges. The available courses are; B. Sc Nursing, Military Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery, M.Sc Nursing, Hospital Nursing, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife/Health Worker etc. once the chosen course is successfully completed; the person can join any hospital and start the work. It’s a great job which rewards you well and also gives you that inner satisfaction of serving people. No doubt, the nursing job is mentally tiring and physically demanding because of long work hours. But then, it’s satisfying as well. However, one needs to take precaution while looking after patients because there are chances of getting infectious diseases. Nursing job also requires unscheduled night hours but that’s part of the job. There are also chances of emergency cases on a regular basis so one needs to be prepared for that.
