B. A. M. S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): The course is of 5½ years
which includes one year of essential internship. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) regulates Ayurvedic Education in India. India is credited to gift this form of medicine to the world. Ayurvedic treatment which exists in India since ages is fast gaining popularity amongst medical students.
M.S. (Master of Surgery): This course is a three year postgraduate degree program in Surgery. Doctors must have M.B.B.S. degree to take this course. Having M.S greatly adds value in the CV of a doctor.
M.D. (Doctor of Medicine): similar to M.S, M.D is also a three year postgraduate degree program. The eligibility criterion for this medicine course is M.B.B.S.
M.Ch.: This course is a two year super specialty program in surgery. M.S degree is a must to get into this course.
D.M.: A super specialty program in medicine, D.M. is of 2 to 3 years duration. The eligibility criterion is M.D. degree.
