Graphic Design course is rapidly getting preference amongst new generation of college and school pass-outs. It’s a creative course where students get the opportunity to showcase their creativity through visual communication. The process of visual communication is a combination of images, words and most importantly ideas to put across the required information. A graphical designer is skilled in layout, diagrams, drawing, photography, lettering, typography etc. the main profile consist of developing layouts of magazines, newspapers, journals, marketing brochures, packaging, services etc.

 

Students willing to join this course need to complete 10+2 or equivalent. There are several one year, two year diploma and certificate courses apart from Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) course. Students can also opt for one year diploma in visual communication. But more than anything, students need to have genuine interest in the graphical designs and a creative bent of mind.

 

Once the course is completed, students have multiple choices as far as joining a job is concerned. This job pays well and job profile can be of graphic designers, design management professional, creative directors, art workers and few more. Multiple opportunities are available in film and animation, advertising agencies, electronic media, packaging, audio-visual media, publishers, marketing firms, design studios, educational institutes, printers and typesetters, exhibits and displays, manufacturers and department stores etc.

 

Several institutes in India offer Graphic Design courses. Few of them are; National Institute of Design in Gujarat, Department of Design, Guwahati Indian Institute of Technology in Assam, Industrial Design Centre IIT Bombay in Maharashtra, Symbiosis Institute of Design in Pune, Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Karnataka, Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur etc.
