Aerospace and Avionics is a very interesting and promising field. Many youths have dreams of joining these services and make themselves and their families proud. One of the premier institutes, The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) invites applications for admission to the PhD programme in this context. The course will commence in February 2010. The areas covered under the course are as diverse and interesting as Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Talking about eligibility criteria, one needs to have at least Master’s degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent. There is good news for Bachelors as well. If student is just a bachelor but with a degree in Engineering in addition to an excellent academic record and aptitude for research, he can also be considered for direct admission to the PhD programme. So talent is surely appreciated here. The course is open for Indian citizens only.
One needs to visit IIST website iist.ac.in to download the application form and for other details. Candidate must be below 28 years as on January 1, 2010. The selection procedure involves a written test and an interview in Thiruvananthapuram. The IIST-PhD research fellowship will be Rs 35,000 pm (all inclusive). PhD scholars will be required to assist department up to eight hours per week. They don’t need to pay any tuition/registration fee.
